Overview
KPV is the three-amino-acid sequence Lys-Pro-Val derived from the C-terminal region of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (alpha-MSH). It has been studied for anti-inflammatory activity without the pigmentation-related signaling associated with full-length alpha-MSH. Experimental work has focused on NF-kB signaling, pro-inflammatory cytokines, intestinal inflammation, epithelial transport, and skin models. Most evidence remains cellular or animal-based.
How it works
NF-kB signaling: Experimental studies report reduced activation or nuclear translocation of NF-kB in inflammatory models.
Cytokine modulation: Research has measured TNF-alpha, IL-6, IL-1beta, and related inflammatory mediators.
Epithelial effects: Gut and skin models have examined local transport and barrier-associated inflammatory responses.
Research areas
Intestinal inflammation models
Epithelial barrier research
Skin inflammation
Innate immune signaling
Research / study context
Cellular inflammation models: Researchers have measured cytokines, transcription-factor activation, and epithelial responses.
Animal colitis models: Preclinical studies have evaluated inflammation scores, tissue injury, and local peptide delivery.
Key research findings
KPV has reproducible anti-inflammatory signals in experimental models.
Human clinical evidence is limited.
Claims should remain focused on research pathways rather than disease treatment.
